Strategic Risk Solutions appoints Matthew Charleson
A Bermudian-based provider of independent insurance management and consulting services has appointed a chief operating officer of fund services and ILS.
Industry veteran Matthew Charleson’s post at Strategic Risk Solutions Inc and its subsidiaries is effective December 7, the organisation said.
Mr Charleson will be based in Bermuda, where SRS said he will be responsible for further developing and implementing the organisation’s services within the ILS sector of the insurance and reinsurance industry in key jurisdictions where it operates, including Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Europe and the United States.
The organisation said he will report to managing director Jonathan Reiss, who joined SRS earlier this month.
Brady Young, president and CEO of SRS, said: “There is a strong need for a high-quality independent manager in the ILS sector. The market is concentrated with limited options, all at a time when there is a need for new ventures to support the insurance industry with rates hardening and innovation flourishing.”
He added: “We are investing in our specialist ILS capabilities both with respect to fund administration as well as insurance management to support this growing sector of the insurance industry.”
Mr Charleson said: “I am excited by the challenge of building out SRS’s ILS services. SRS has deep capabilities in insurance management and has fund administration resources through its recent acquisition of Dyna Management that we will grow.”
He added: “By combining these capabilities and being independent of broker ownership, SRS is especially well positioned to be the service provider of choice for growing ILS businesses.
“I know Jonathan from our time at EY and am looking forward to working with him again.”
Mr Charleson joins SRS from Apex where he was managing director and head of insurance fund services.
SRS said he previously held senior fund administration and insurance management roles at Kane LPI Solutions and Prime Management, and before that was a manager at EY.
In addition to Bermuda, SRS has operations throughout the United States, Europe, Barbados, the Cayman Islands and South Africa.
