Bascome and Donawa facing cup dilemma

Shaun Goater and Larry Dunlop speak with Darlington pair Justin Donawa and Osagi Bascome after their team's match at Altrincham this season. Bascome and Donawa have been named in Bermuda's squad for the Concacaf Nations League match against Mexico on Tuesday. It means they would miss Darlington's FA Cup first-round replay against Walsall on Wednesday

Darlington manager Alun Armstrong is hopeful of keeping Bermuda pair Osagi Bascome and Justin Donawa from travelling away on international duty ahead of a crucial FA Cup replay against Walsall.

Both players featured as non-League Darlington snatched a last-gasp 2-2 draw in the first-round encounter away at the Sky Bet League Two outfit on Saturday, with Bascome’s free kick being tucked home by Joe Wheatley, seven minutes into added time.

That set up a replay back at Darlington’s Blackwell Meadows Stadium on November 20, just a day after Bermuda are set to face Mexico in their final group B game in League A of the Concacaf Nations League.

Having also had defender Ben Hedley sent off, Armstrong was left pondering the possibility of keeping the Bermudians back for the cup-tie.

“I’m probably going to have to stop my two Bermudans Osagi Bascome and Justin Donawa going on international duty because now Ben’s suspended, I will only have one player left on the bench,” Armstrong told the Press Association.
