The Attorney General's Chambers won an appeal in the Supreme Court against the sentence given to Richard Southwell.

Mr. Southwell, 27, of Happy Talk Lane, Paget, was initially disqualified from driving motorcycles for two years after he was found to be more than twice over the legal limit for driving.

But he will now be banned from all vehicles from March 27 this year for 12 months after Chief Justice Austin Ward allowed the appeal by the Attorney General.

Mr. Southwell was one of the impaired driving cases who were mistakenly allowed to keep some form of licence by Magistrates -- in contravention of the Road Traffic Amendment Act 1997.

Crown counsel Brian Calhoun appeared for the Attorney General and Mr.

Southwell represented himself.
