Police investigate after a shooting in Pembroke.

A 20-year-old was shot while riding a motorcycle in Pembroke this evening.The man is now being treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for injuries to his leg.The shooting occurred shortly after 5pm.A Police spokesman said the man was travelling along The Glebe Road when he was chased West on North Shore by a person or persons on a second motorcycle who then opened fire.Traffic is now blocked from travelling along North Shore from The Glebe Road to Blackwatch Pass. About a dozen officers are present as part of the investigation into the shooting.One motorist who ignored the officers was quickly stopped and searched.He was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired and taken to Hamilton Police Station.Police appear to be focusing their search on a grassy area at the junction of North Shore Road and Bandroom Lane.One resident said he heard what he thought was a motorcycle backfiring at around 5.30pm, but was told only later that there had been a shooting.Police are now asking anyone who saw two motorcycles involved in a chase in the area of The Glebe Road and North Shore road to come forward.
