Fire Service suffer Pot roasting

Division matches reported to have been played as torrential rain waterlogged several of the Island's soccer pitches.

In the `A' Division, Lobster Pot took full advantage of White Hill field, one of the few grounds in playable condition, as they swamped Fire Service 11-1.

Saleem Mukudem and Jim McLaren both netted hat-tricks for the restaurant team, and substitute Tom Hennessey came off the bench to tally two.

Peter Jinus, Adrian White and Troy Berkeley all added to the thrashing.

R.Thomas converted a lone reply for the firefighters.

The result enabled Pot to fortify their second place position behind Robin Hood, who still lead by three points with a game in hand.

`B' Division action also saw a pair of massacres with Exiles running roughshod over Pest Control 12-2, while St. George's All-Stars made their lengthy trek west to Dockyard a worthy mission, crushing home-standing Falcons 7-3.

At Shelly Bay, Exiles dominated from start to finish, extinguishing their opponents in the manner similar to the way the latter would normally put an end to a bug's existence.

Mike Trott led the victors' goal parade with a first half hat-trick, as Exiles poured in six before the break.

Others getting in on the act were Alan Johnson and Craig Critchlow, both with a pair, while Mike Edge, Craig Outerbridge, Treadwell Walker, Mike Smith and Anthony Trott each netted single tallies.

Meanwhile, out west, St. George's came from 3-1 down, scoring six times without reply in the second half to overhaul hosts Falcons, who suffered greatly from a lack of conditioning after the interval.

The result enabled All-Stars to draw level on points with idle league leaders Key West Rangers, but they remain second on goal difference.

All other matches reported to the Bermuda Football Association offices at press-time revealed unplayable field conditions, although this was not necessarily the case at Devonshire Rec.

The referee at the Rec was ready to commence play but neither Wolves Pack nor Somerset had the required number of players to proceed.
