Electronic monitoring device showed man was at the scene of theft
Two career crooks have admitted stealing three DVD players from PriceRite.Devon Lee Foggo, 41, from Hamilton Parish, and Sherman Armstrong, 48, of no fixed abode, both pleaded guilty to a charge of theft.Magistrates’ Court heard that at around 9am on September 7, both men entered PriceRite, on Mill Creek Lane, and walked directly to the electronics section.They were seen on CCTV taking three boxes off the shelves and leaving the store without paying.The stolen items were later identified as two Sony DVD players and one Sony portable DVD player, worth a total of $321.Crown counsel Susan Mulligan said both men have a history of theft, with Foggo currently on bail awaiting sentence for a separate theft matter.As part of his bail, Foggo was required to wear an electronic monitoring device, which recorded his movements as he went to the Mill Creek store on September 7.Duty counsel Leonard Holder told the court that the two defendants were both struggling with heroin addiction.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded Foggo into custody and released Armstrong on $1,000 bail with a like surety.Both men are expected to return to court on a later date to be sentenced.
