We should sue those who label us a tax haven

July 27, 2013Dear Sir,Bermuda’s totally undeserved ‘tax haven’, status is, from my prospective, going to prevent us from achieving any significant recovery in our economy. So what to do about this problem? The thing to do with those who label us a tax haven, is to sue them for slander. Only a lie can be slander and this case, even if only in the spirit of natural justice, will reinforce that fact.By all means, literally take them to the World Court in The Hague instead of watching our politicians dance around, and totally missing this obviously definitive solution. Any private entity with the financial wherewithal can just up and do it.QUIETLY: or, since Parliament is full of lawyers, and now that they have been told, let them form a bipartisan committee and get the job done.Let the news come from Reuters no less. Do you realise what that would do? First it’ll send the message loud and clear that Bermuda us serious, and frowns upon being lied ABOUT.Like almost everyone, we can handle being lied TO, but not about. The repercussions will reach beyond the two obvious ones I just mentioned, but that’s obvious. As always, solving the problem so it don’t come back!CK Simons
