Our good deed cleaning up Bermuda

Eager environmentalists: East End Primary 3 students have helped keep their community clean and tidy during the school year.

Being a community is all about being nice, good, kind and a good neighbour. Being a Bermudian is cool, but being a bad community member is not right. The first step to cleaning up the world is to start in your own country. Then, if you go away you can clean up the country that you are on vacation in. Maybe you can clean the parks there. East End Primary, P3 students, clean up Bermuda because we don’t want to see trash all the time. It’s even in our school creed! Picking up trash is almost like cleaning your room and my room is a mess! The P3 class has been picking up trash for a long time. The first time, we picked up trash around the bus terminal and along the road. We were amazed at the things we found. Nasir found a motor, O’zahri found an old chair and there were a whole bunch of cigarettes. Our teacher, Mrs Williams, told us not to pick them up though. The boys held the trees back so that the girls could climb through and pick up soda cans, paper, plastic and other yucky stuff. Juice boxes and chip bags were all over the place too!You can help clean Bermuda too. If you clean up, trees or something wonderful might grow there; maybe fruit trees or even flowers. When we did community service people said, “thank you”. My class loves doing community service. Picking up trash is good because it cleans up the Earth and the Earth needs to be tidy. Will you choose to clean up, ‘cause we think community service rules!
