The sad truth

June 16, 2011Dear Sir,I notice as “Father’s Day” approaches, that the advertising columns and the television stations, not to mention the e-mails, are filled with items “for sale” or “special bargains”, and I wonder what the merchants really think about dads, that they would advertise cheaper things for them. And other merchants would sell such things as new tools for dad so he can spend the rest of the year doing maintenance, I suppose.I don’t want to sound greedy, but for my fellow dads, it’s time the advertisements said: “Here's something extra valuable for Dad really show your appreciation!”The sad truth is it’s all Hallmark foolery the more “days” there are the more cards can be sold. Bah humbug.WILLIAM S ZUILL SrSmith’s
