Four more cases of the coronavirus were identified among 640 test results received by the Ministry of Health at the weekend.

A spokeswoman added that of the 29 active cases in Bermuda, one person is in hospital but not in critical care.

The hospital patient is not among the four new cases.

Two of the latest cases were transmitted on the island with a known contact.

One is a resident who showed symptoms and was a household contact of a known case.

The other was an asymptomatic resident who is a workplace contact of a known case.

The health ministry spokeswoman added on Saturday: “The two additional cases are under investigation.

“These cases are among symptomatic residents.

“As yet, these cases appear unrelated, with no links to travel or the current known clusters.”

Bermuda has had 251 total cases of the coronavirus and 28 active cases are under public health monitoring.

Nine people with Covid-19 have died and 213 people have recovered from the coronavirus.

The age range of confirmed cases is from a under one to 101, with the average being 52.

The health ministry spokeswoman added: “To protect privacy and confidentiality, the age of the hospitalised case will not be provided.”

A total of 119 cases have come to the island from overseas and 105 were transmitted on the island with a known contact or source.

Another 21 cases were transmitted in Bermuda but with no source identified and six are under investigation.

The public was reminded: “It should be noted that, as investigations proceed, transmission categories may change.”

The seven-day average of the island’s real time reproduction number is 1.32.

Bermuda’s country status is “clusters of cases”.

Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, said: "I would like to remind members of the public to use Bermuda's self-reporting website Healthiq.bm.

“HealthIQ helps us, as a community, to track symptoms based on Covid criteria.

“It also provides users with individualised information and follow-up by professionals based on various risk factors – such as being medically vulnerable – and track trends and gaps so that we can better identify places where partners like donors and the third sector can focus resources.

“HealthIQ provides the island with more insight into where potential cases of Covid-19 may be and gives us a proactive way to address them, giving us tens of thousands of eyes so that we can all stay safe.”

She added: “We are asking that each household go to healthiq.bm and enter your information and update it often; it only takes a moment and is completely private.

“Give yourself and your community a better understanding of how we're all doing."
