Man attempted to break into ex-girlfriend’s home

A Warwick man who found his ex-girlfriend in her home with a male friend appeared in Magistrates’ Court today, charged with unlawfully attempting to enter her house.

Peter Nentwig also pleaded guilty to inflicting $170 worth of damage to Tiffany Dawson’s door handle.

Nentwig’s lawyer, Saul Dismont, said the two had recently rekindled a romance and that Nentwig became angry when he discovered Ms Dawson in her home with the other man.

“He was a welcome visitor,” said Mr Dismont.

Prosecutor Loxley Ricketts said Ms Dawson asked him to leave but instead Nentwig went around to the residence’s back door where he was then confronted by the other man who brandished a baseball bat.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered a social inquiry report.

Nentwig will be sentenced on June 30.
