Police Service wins KBB President’s Award
The boys in blue have been honoured for being green by Keep Bermuda Beautiful.The Central Community Action Team of the Bermuda Police Service were this week awarded the KBB President’s Award for their work improving the community.A spokeswoman for the charity said yesterday: “The team understands that by improving the physical environment of a neighbourhood, it can lead to a reduction in crime, particularly when neighbours and community partners work shoulder to shoulder.“The Central Community Action Team has worked steadily to help area residents create Neighbourhood Watch groups, and connect them with KBB to work together on community clean ups.”The award was one of several handed out as part of the charity’s annual Appreciation Awards, given out during its annual general meeting.Also honoured were Cathy Bassett, Nikita Robinson, David and Jocille Blakeney, Anthony Whaley Jr, Jessica Petty and Couples for Christ who were given Certificates of Appreciation for their contributions.And the Garden Club of Bermuda was the first winner of the KBB Environmental Partner Award.The KBB originally formed as part of a subcommittee of the Garden Club in the early 1960s before the groups separated in 1964.
