A boot-camp challenge that put 220 people through the Bermuda Regiment’s assault course reaped big rewards for three local charities.A novel fundraiser, Island Challenge attracted 55 teams and raised just shy of $45,000.“Everyone came through unscathed,” said Island Challenge organiser Aideen Ratteray Pryse, who hopes to continue the fundraiser next year, with the Regiment’s support. “The main thing now is for all the teams to make sure they bring in their pledges.”Charities the Bermuda International Film Festival, Raleigh International and Knowledge Quest were the ultimate winners.Top fundraiser was women’s team, Victorious Secret. Its members took in $7,555.The quickest team, Catch Us If You Can, finished the course in just under 30 minutes; the men’s category was won by Bermuda Tools. Saltus Grammar came top in the Youth Category, Catlin Bermuda took the corporate top place, and the winning mixed team was Knowledge Quest.“For a first-time event, that’s a great turnout,” Ms Ratteray Pryse said. Points were based on a mix of speed and the amount of money raised.
