When the mercury does not reach 68, the hotels offer 20 percent discounts. The temperature guarantee lasts from January to March.

Certain stores also offer cut-price goods when the guaranteed temperature is not reached.

As the programme enters its second year, the number of hotels taking part has doubled.

Participating hotels include Elbow Beach, Grotto Bay, Marriott's Castle Harbour, Hamilton Princess, Southampton Princess, Mermaid Beach, Palmetto Hotel and Cottages, The Reefs, Stonington Beach, and Lantana Colony Club.
