Tech advances in the war against Covid-19 to be discussed in the House
The Premier will today update MPs on technological advances to tackle Covid-19 at a virtual sitting of the House of Assembly.
David Burt’s statement will be reinforced by details on new regulations to protect the island from the coronavirus pandemic from Kim Wilson, the health minister.
Legislators will also hear from Curtis Dickinson, the finance minister, on the Government’s raising of $1.35 billion in new bonds last August.
The bonds were split between ten-year and 30-year bonds to help with the island’s debt management, in the wake of the pandemic’s impact on the economy.
Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Social Development and Seniors, is to speak on the commemoration held yesterday for National Disability Day.
Diallo Rabain, the education minister, will address the House on financial support for college students.
MPs are set to debate four pieces of legislation.
The Residential Care Homes and Nursing Homes (Transfer of Functions) Act will shift responsibilities for the care facilities from the health minister over to the Bermuda Health Council.
Business documents filed with the Registrar of Companies will go electronic under the Companies and Partnerships (Electronic Registry) Amendment Act.
Also up for debate are the Bermuda Immigration and Protection Amendment (No. 2) Act and the Health Insurance (Miscellaneous) Act.
