Firefighters are practising emergency response driving, it was revealed today.

The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service warned there would be an increase in fire trucks on the roads using lights and sirens until next Friday.

A spokesman for the fire service said the training would be carried out across the island, including Hamilton.

He added there are four firefighters taking part in the training and drive under simulated emergency conditions under the strict supervision of a driving instructor.

The spokesman said: “The public is encouraged to exercise patience and caution while these emergency exercises take place.”

Another round of emergency response training is planned for January to March next year.
