Christmas came early to the historic 17th century “Carter House” at Southside last weekend.

The St David’s Historical Society celebrated its Carter House Family Christmas at the museum and replica settlers’ cabin in St George’s on Sunday.

Society members Ronnie Chameau and Barbara West decorated the historic building in 17th Century style.

The Christmas tradition had to be held outdoors this year, with limited admittance to the dwelling and museum. Masks were required, even for Father Christmas, who met children one at a time, and numbers were kept to 50.

Ms Chameau’s craft market with Donna Pink sold out fast, while the society held a raffle offering a staycation at The Loren as a prize.

Guests were entertained with carols, along with young musicians and their teacher Derek Tully, and Gary Lamb of the Black Horse Tavern served up fish chowder.
