An American man suspected of shooting Bermudian student Charles (Lyndon) Fubler in Georgia will be placed on a most wanted list on the Internet.

Richmond County Police in Augusta, Georgia, yesterday told The Royal Gazette their search for Mark Lorenzo Squires -- who has been on the run since the shooting more than two years ago -- will soon be extended onto the Internet.

Squires faces charges of aggravated assault, burglary and possession of a weapon.

The shooting occurred on November 13, 1995, at the home of Fubler's friend, Sheila Kitchens, in Richmond County.

Fubler was a 24-year-old student at Augusta College when he was shot in the head by Squires who is thought to be a member of the notorious Los Angeles gang, the Crips.

Also hurt in the shooting was Ms Kitchens, who has been paralysed, and her then 12-year-old brother, George.

Squires' accomplice, Daniel Downing, 20, was sentenced in June 1996 to 55 years in prison for the same charges.

Downing drove Squires to Kitchens' home on the day of the shooting. Squires then used Downing's gun to shoot the three victims.

Yesterday, Richmond County Police's Chief Deputy Ronald Strength admitted his department had received help from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, but Squires was still on the run.

"We have absolutely nothing on his whereabouts,'' Deputy Strength said. "He is in the computer under that name, and that date of birth, and we have had assistance with some leads from the FBI.

"We hope to have a most wanted Internet page within six months and Mark Squires will be on it,'' Deputy Strength added.
