Police promote five
Five Police officers were promoted to the ranks of Inspector and above last week.
Police announced the promotions of Craig Morfitt, Michael Jackman, Clarke Minors and James Howard to the rank of Inspector and Randy Liverpool to the rank of Superintendent.
"These promotions are one more step towards establishing a strong management team for the Bermuda Police Service,'' said Police Commissioner Johnathan Smith.
"I have no doubt that these officers will readily meet the challenges that they will face," he added.
Father of two, Inspector Craig Morfitt, is a 17-year veteran who transferred from the Humberside Police in England. He served in Central Uniform, Central CID and was promoted to Sergeant in 1996.
Insp. Morfitt is an amateur boxer and a third degree black belt in karate.
Insp. Michael Jackman arrived in Bermuda in 1982 from Barbados before joining the Police Service. He served in St. George's, Traffic Department, Community and Juvenile Services and the Central and Western Parish units.
He was promoted to Sergeant in 1995 and was the Bermuda Police Association Chairman from 1997 to 2000. Insp. Jackman is a father of two and is the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Project Renewal and Implementation Team.
Father of two, Clarke Minors was promoted to Detective Inspector and Eastern Division OIC last week. He joined the Service as a cadet in 1978, became a Constable in 1980, Detective Constable in 1989 and was subsequently promoted to Sergeant.
He worked as a patrol officer and parish constable. He was also the first male in Community and Juvenile Services before moving on to serve in Eastern Division, Task Force, Major Incident Room and Western and Central CIDs.
Insp. James Howard joined the Service in 1985 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1996. His work included Central Division, Cycle Crime Unit and the Motorcycle Patrol Section and he has received extensive training in the narcotics enforcement field where he is now posted.
Superintendent Randy Liverpool came to Bermuda in 1979 when he joined the Police Service. Initially a schoolteacher in St. Vincent, Supt. Liverpool became a Detective Sergeant in 1985 where he worked on several high-profile cases.
His career took him through departments such as Narcotics, head of Western CID and Administrations. He was promoted to Detective Inspector while serving in Narcotics.
He worked on the Core Functions Exercise and was promoted to Chief Inspector in 1999 when he became the Police Career Development Officer.
As a Superintendent, he is in charge of Specialist Operations. Supt. Liverpool is a well-known cricket player and father of two.
