Bluck sworn in as alderman
Jay Bluck has been sworn in as the third alderman of the Corporation of Hamilton.
Mr. Bluck was nominated to the position after Reginald Minors resigned this summer due to travel commitments.
Mr. Bluck was sworn in at a ceremony at City Hall yesterday. No election was necessary as he was the only nomination.
Mr. Bluck, a former councillor, said that the aldermen head up various committees within the Corporation and have influence within the Corporation
He added that it was a logical step to move from councillor to alderman and believes he will enjoy the challenge.
When asked what his goals were for his new position he said that the Corporation is facing exciting and difficult decisions such as the redevelopment of the waterfront.
"I enjoy developments because what we do now will influence Bermuda for the next 50 or 60 years," he said.
Hamilton Mayor Lawson Mapp was on hand to welcome Mr. Bluck to his new position.
He said: "In June I welcomed him back as a councillor. Now it is my pleasure to welcome him as alderman."
