Marathon Derby deadline
Local road runners have only until this Friday to return their entry forms for the Island's most prestigious race of the year, the May 24 Half-Marathon, traditionally known as the Marathon Derby.
Those missing that deadline will have to enter, paying an increased fee, at number pick-up at the offices of sponsors Argus Insurance on Saturday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..
With top triathlete Tyler Butterfield on the Island, it's expected that he and last year's winner Chris Estwanik and the ever-improving Lamont Marshall will battle for overall honours.
Estwanik's wife, Ashley, will be favourite to take the women's title with Victoria Fiddick also in the mix.
Organisers of the 101st edition of the event have said they are preparing for as many as 1000 competitors, following last year's centennial race which attracted 1400 runners and walkers.
Proceeds from this year's race will be donated to The Foster Parents Association and the President's Pick, Mr. Omar Hayward.
