Bermuda Islander was placed in drydock after she struck an unknown object in the water and suffered "minor damage'' on her return to Salem, Virginia last week, he said.

Further details were not available.

Normally, Bermuda Islander would have returned to Bermuda on Monday. Uranus , which has been chartered from another company, is expected to arrive in Hamilton today and discharge 81 containers, including one horse box, eight refrigerated containers, and one 40-foot container.

In other shipping news, Oleander arrived in Bermuda on Monday after a rough crossing in which she encountered 70-knot winds and suffered a minor cargo shift in which some steel moved, Container Ship Management reported.

She discharged 96 dry 20-foot containers, 40 refrigerated containers, five 40-foot containers, one car, five 40-foot trailers, one chipping ma chine, and one backhoe. Oleander sailed on Tuesday.

Somers Isles , also delayed by bad weather, arrived in Hamilton from Florida on Monday, Meyer Agencies reported. She discharged 95 containers, including eight refrigerated ones. Loose cargo included 28 bundles of steel decking, 46 bundles of lumber, and six bundles of structural steel and PVC pipe. She sailed on Tuesday.

Strong Icelander , which serves the US Naval Air Station, arrived at Marginal Wharf from Norfolk on Tuesday and discharged 12 40-foot containers. She sailed the same day. Her sister ship, Strong Cajun , was due in to Marginal Wharf yesterday afternoon.

The cruise ship Dreamward made her last visit of the summer to the Island, arriving from New York with 1,142 passengers, Meyer Agencies reported. She sailed on Tuesday for San Juan, Puerto Rico on a repositioning cruise.

The cruise ship Horizon , which will make her last visit of the season next week, arrived in Hamilton on Monday with 1,189 passengers, Meyer said. She shifted to St. George's yesterday and sails today.

Royal Majesty arrived from Boston on Monday with 1,142 passengers and had to berth at Dockyard due to heavy weather before shifting to St. George's.

Represented by John S. Darrell & Co. Ltd., she sailed yesterday.

Song of America , which like Royal Majesty will make her last voyage next week, arrived in St. George's on Tuesday with 1,142 passengers, John S.

Royal Viking Sun , now owned by Cunard Cruise Lines, arrived from Portugal with 591 passengers and dropped anchor in the Great Sound last Thursday and shifted to Number 7 dock before sailing on Friday for Florida. Her agents were John S. Darrell.

Meridian , which also has one more visit remaining, arrived at Dockyard on Monday with 1,033 passengers, Meyer said. She sails today for Virginia.

The car ship Marble Highway arrived in Hamilton yesterday from Santo Domingo.

The Panamanian-flagged vessel discharged 117 cars and 74 cases of parts before sailing for the Bahamas. Her agents were Meyer.

The Shell tanker Ebalina arrived on Sunday from the Dutch West Indies. She discharged at Dockyard, then pulled alongside the Shell oil docks on Tuesday and discharged fuel oil, then sailed for Aruba yesterday. Her agents were John S. Darrell.

The cement ship Amparo Paola arrived at Dockyard from Venezuela on Monday and discharged before sailing on Tuesday for Norfolk, Virginia. The 450-foot ship, registered in Panama, was represented by John S. Darrell.

CAR SHIP -- The Marble Highway was in port yesterday morning delivering 117 cars. The Panamanian-registered ship arrived here from Santo Domingo.
