Measure by talent

May 2, 2012Dear Sir,I refer to the letter to The Royal Gazette today and signed by Christopher Famous in which he goes down a long and winding road at the end of which he comes to the conclusion that after 14 years of failure, the reason to vote for the PLP is family ... and what he means is black family. It’s a nice letter and will hopefully be made into a made-for-TV movie someday but it might be useful for Chris to seek a better definition of government. Fact is, the PLP can dig as deep as they want and they will not find any answers because they have none and nobody with any ability to solve any problem, provide any leadership or develop a long term plan.PLP supporters love to say that all whites voted UBP and they’d be close to correct. What they are trying to do is to paint all white people as racially based voters but the UBP has been blacker than white since the beginning. Yeah, sure, the money behind the throne was probably white but you gonna tell me that CV, Quinton, ET, Stan Ratteray and John Swan were a bunch of white man’s puppets. Get serious, they were educated and forward thinking people who knew what governance was all about ... and it wasn’t about being black for black’s sake. The three musketeers of the PLP — Jonathan Smith, Vince Ingham and Stephen Todd — are what the PLP defines as the start of the intellectual power base. Read any comment from any one of them — the most recent being Jonathan’s response to Fahy — and you will see there is no new thought process, no new idea and no difference from the standard PLP rhetoric which is ‘do not challenge us — we are in power’. And Christopher Famous subscribes to this theory too ...’never lose possession of the ball’ ... in other words, power for power’s sake.Chris, why don’t you write Chapter 2 so that all of us can see, specifically, what you think you will find when you dig deep? What you think you will find when you seek leadership and guidance? What will you find when you are looking for the people with answers to the problems that the PLP itself has created -and, no way, OUR problems are NOT caused by the global economy, it’s the PLP who have done this. After 14 years of abject failure, the rest of us know what you will find ... more failure! You are very right when you say that there is no perfect government ... never was, never will be ... but that is not the point. The point is to elect people who do have the talent to govern and not to elect people based on the colour of their skin.NOT FAMOUS AT ALLHamilton
