The senior ZBM reporter sustained a gash to his head which required more than 20 stitches after collapsing unconscious in Lindo's Supermarket in Devonshire on Saturday morning.
Doctors are now keeping Mr. McKey in hospital for tests. A hospital spokeswoman said: "He has been in hospital for the last three days. He is on a general ward and his condition is stable.'' ZBM colleague Darlene Ming said: "I can confirm that he's in hospital and that he took ill at the weekend. His doctors will let us know what the source of his problem is shortly but at the moment we're not exactly clear what his problem is.
"Jim holds a very important position within the organisation and brings a wealth of experience. We are very concerned and wish him a speedy recovery so that he can get back to his work responsibilities.''
