BRIAN Bulhoes led Bermuda's contingent at the Optimist World Championships off the coast of Turkey this week when he finished in 26th place after the final race ¿ the 15th ¿ was sailed yesterday.

Over 250 sailors from around the world were competing at the regatta being staged off Cesme, Izmir, Turkey.

Last weekend Bermuda finished in a tie for fourth place during the team racing.

Second among the Bermuda sailors in the final individual standings was Kalin Hillier in 61st place while Owen Siese was only one spot behind him in 62nd place.

Connor Astwood finished in 166th place while Christopher Sposato finished in 208th place.

The regatta was won by Puerto Rico's Raul Rios who dominated the event with four bullets. Second was Ian Burrows from the Virgin Islands while Denmark's Kristien Kirketerp was third.
