BUEI marks anniversary '

The day-long celebration will feature events for children and a prize giveaway for people who sign up for new memberships.Dottie the Clown will be present as will the museum's mascot, Gillie the Six Gilled Shark.

The day-long celebration will feature events for children and a prize giveaway for people who sign up for new memberships.

Dottie the Clown will be present as will the museum's mascot, Gillie the Six Gilled Shark. Other mascots will also be attending the birthday bash.

Scheduled events include face painting between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., a scavenger hunt between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and storytelling in the Shipwreck Gallery from noon until 2 p.m.

There will also be a cyberspace cafe run by BUEI partner Logic Communications available throughout the day and a children's movie at 2 p.m.

Admission to the open house is free and the event lasts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The day's events will be broadcast live on Power 95 Radio with The Captain, Keevil Burgess.

The BUEI's director of marketing Jacqueline Horsfield said: "What we want is the community to get to know the BUEI better and become part and parcel of what we do. There will be activities for the whole family as well as just for kids.''
