Armed robber enters guilty plea

Yusef DeSilva, of Cobbs Hill Road, Warwick, pleaded guilty to armed robbery and also using a firearm whilst committing an offence of robbery, on April 9, 1997.
But DeSilva pleaded not guilty to additional charges of armed robbery, using a firearm with intent to commit an offence and possession of ammunition, all on April 9 last year.
He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on June 22, when he will be sentenced.
Also due to appear on June 22 for trial is Chet Wilmot, of Farm Lane, Warwick, who denies attempting to set fire to a building when there were people inside, on March 4.
Mr. Wilmot, 35, also pleaded not guilty to two charges of causing wilful damage to property and stalking. He was remanded in custody.
A trial date has been set for a Sandys couple who were charged in connection with the death of a five-month-old baby.
Sharina Anne Tuzo, 18, pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and Jermaine Noel Pearman, 26, to murder, in the death of Saed Rami Nadir Young on August 29.
The couple, from Bob's Valley, Sandys, will appear in the Supreme Court on October 12.
Former Government Senator Llewellyn Peniston, accused of fraud offences, will stand trial on September 28. Mr. Peniston, 52, denied charges of perjury, forgery and contempt of court.
