A Smith’s man was charged today with unlawful entry into Westgate Correctional Facility.

Dwayne Brangman, 21, denied the charge in Magistrates’ Court, saying it was a case of mistaken identity.

Crown counsel Cindy Clarke said Mr Brangman was spotted on CCTV entering the facility over its fenced perimeter on May 28 this year.

Officers were unable to apprehend Mr Brangman but were able to identify him from previous run-ins with the law.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Brangman on $5000 bail with one surety and ordered him to reappear for mention on January 30.
