Breaking News: TS Colin Update - Storm force winds now expected throughout Sunday
Tropical storm force winds are now expected to develop tomorrow (Sunday, August 8), according to the Bermuda Weather Service.
In its 4.30pm bulletin, forecasters say that Tropical Storm Colin is a threat to Bermuda and adds: "Conditions will deteriorate with wind and shower activity increasing. Tropical storm conditions are now expected to develop by early Sunday morning, and persist through late Sunday afternoon as Colin passes just west of the Island. Conditions will gradually improve during Sunday afternoon."
It is now expected that the storm's closest point to the Island will be at 4pm tomorrow when TS Colin will be in the region of 29 miles away. It has winds of about 35 knots with gusts about 45 knots.
The storm has been moving slowly and at one stage this morning came to a stop, with forecasters saying it was expected to move on again today.
Tropical storm winds extend outwards up to 125 miles and it is expected that Bermuda will experience "large and battering waves".
