Calls to Crime Stoppers rise: Minister

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 24: Anonymous calls to confidential hotline Crime Stoppers have risen significantly, according to National Security Minister David Burch.

Speaking in the Senate this morning he said: “I am encouraged by the new thirst and enthusiasm in relation to Crime Stoppers as well as the support from the business community in terms of finding funding for rewards.”

He said the department had seen “a significant increase” in the number of calls and said callers were opting not to take the reward money, adding: “They want peace.”

The Crime Stoppers number is 1-800-623-8477.
