BAS Group acquires controlling interest in ITS
The diversified facilities management group Bermuda Aviation Services said yesterday that it had bought a controlling interest in Integrated Technology Solutions Ltd.The terms of the deal were not disclosed.BAS group president Kenneth Joaquin told The Royal Gazette: “ITS will be a great fit with our group. CCS is one of our companies and ITS provides an end product to what CCS does.”CCS builds infrastructure and puts in hardware, while ITS could apply the final solutions, he added.ITS is an innovative company in Bermuda’s technology sector, providing both commercial and residential solutions, BAS said in a statement yesterday.Its commercial solutions include boardroom/training room audio-visual systems, electronic automation systems, electronic presentation systems, facility-wide public address speaker systems, lighting control, small office data networks, window treatments, digital signage software systems and closed circuit TV systems.ITS’s residential solutions cover everything from security to entertainment to communications and home automation.“ITS will be a great asset,” Mr Joaquin added. “This addition to the group further enhances BAS’s ability to provide the full service experience and in doing so bring added choice and value to our clients.”Gregory Woods, the founder and chief executive officer of ITS, said: “I had decided to restructure my investment in ITS and consequently I undertook an extensive exercise to determine the appropriate potential partners.“I am extremely pleased that BAS will merge with ITS as we share core values in supporting the ITS team, providing for continued investment in the company and further enhancing the excellent service ITS provides to its expanding customer base. I am pleased that ITS is now a member of an esteemed group of companies and I look forward to developing the synergies that exist within the group.”Mr Joaquin said the ITS deal would strengthen BAS’s offerings in the facilities management space. “We do everything from the floor to the ceiling, whether it’s cleaning, building maintenance, elevators, or fleet management,” he added.A new facilities management firm, called iFM, launched by an Ascendant Group company and a subsidiary of Canada’s Black & McDonald is competing with BAS and has won the business of Bermuda’s two biggest banks, HSBC Bermuda and Butterfield Bank.Mr Joaquin had no fears about the competition and had no comment on its overseas involvement. “We are open to competing with whomever,” Mr Joaquin said. “We have got to realise that we are not living in a box in Bermuda.”The BAS Group employs more than 200 people and is listed on the Bermuda Stock Exchange.It comprises Aircraft Services Bermuda Ltd (ASB), BAS-Serco Ltd, International Bonded Couriers Ltd (IBC), Weir Enterprises Ltd, Otis Bermuda Ltd, CCS Group Ltd and now Integrated Technology Solutions Ltd.
