guilty in Magistrates' Court to being in possession of 13 marijuana seeds.

William T. Carter of Virginia was busted by Customs officers on November 15 at the International Airport after a search of his waist pouch turned up the seeds.

He told Magistrate Edward King he did not realise the seeds were in the pouch and he apologised to the court.

"Do you have money?'' asked Mr. King.

Carter responded he had $75 on him.

Asked who would look after him while he was on the Island, Carter's host stood up and said he would.

"Be ever grateful to your host for the pocket money he is about to give you,'' said Mr. King before levying a $75 fine.

BAN IMPOSED ON IMPAIRED DRIVER CTS Ban imposed on impaired driver A 34-year-old MarketPlace bakery manager was fined $400 and taken off the road for a year after he pleaded guilty to driving while impaired.

Brian Dodge, of White Sands Road, Paget, was fined a further $50 for driving without his eyeglasses -- a condition of his license.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said Dodge was driving an intermediate van along South Road in Devonshire on November 24 when he struck a utility pole and then a taxi.

When Police officers arrived on the scene they saw Dodge was unsteady on his feet, had glazed eyes and his breath smelled of alcohol. When asked if he had been drinking, Dodge said he had a "few'' earlier that day.

A breath sample later showed he had 203 milligrams of alcohol to 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams.

Dodge told the court that he had been drinking during his time off but was paged and told he was needed at work.

He admitted it was a bad judgement call for him to drive but did it because it was an emergency.

DRUNKEN BRAWLERS PLEAD GUILTY CTS Drunken brawlers plead guilty Two men were each fined $200 after they pleaded guilty to being drunk and incapable in St. George's.

Larry Tavares, 35, of Windy Bank Farm, Smith's, and Norberto Fernandes, 30, of Queen Street, St. George's, were caught fighting on York Street on December 2 by Police officers.

As the officers approached the men -- who were fighting with a third person not before the court -- the trio fell through the window of a nearby store.

They were arrested and the officers noticed they had been drinking and charged them with that offence.

In Magistrates' Court Tavares and Fernandes pleaded guilty to being drunk and incapable but not guilty to fighting.

Upon being fined the pair left the court and shook hands and apologised to one another.
