Street house Sunday night.

A Police spokesperson confirmed yesterday that Police attended the house next door to the Flying Chef at approximately 8.14 p.m. and cordoned off the area.

The house is owned by the family of former Housing Minister Wayne Furbert who spoke on their behalf.

He said the house belonged to his grandfather who passed away last Christmas and it was left to his father who is currently off the Island, and his cousin.

The house has not been occupied for over 30 years and Mr. Furbert said no-one was in the house when it collapsed.

Workers had inspected the house several weeks ago and found the roof was soft and there were cracks in the building.

He said they were planning to have the house demolished in order to build new apartments.

Mr. Furbert expected the bulldozers to move in very soon and would be dusting off some old plans to see if they were still suitable to develop the property.

He expected a minimum of four units would be built and added to Government's 100 houses scheme.
