Hundreds visit new St. George's market
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31: Hundreds of people filled St. George’s today as part of the first in a series of Olde Towne Market days.
The market, initially called the Ghost Towne Market, was originally suggested on a social networking site as something to draw people to the East End, which has suffered from a drop in visiting cruise ships.
This afternoon both visitors and locals were drawn to the shops and dozens of stands selling everything from handmade crafts and greeting cards to fresh fish.
Diane Gordon, of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, said: “I think the turn out has been wonderful. This is really something great for St. George’s.”
The market will continue to be held in St. George’s every Sunday until Christmas.
