And you know what I tend to agree with those who speak it change must come. We must change the way we communicate with each other and about each other. We have allowed cyberspace and the internet to displace courtesy and intellect. More importantly we need to change our approach to our elected representatives. We need to stop wondering “well I wonder why they said or did xyz in regards to matter abc.” And we need to be a bit more proactive in reaching out to those we have elected to represent us and those seeking to represent us. Let them know “yes we have your back. but you damn sure better have mine”.Let us all be mindful that we are first and foremost kin. Whether by blood, marriage or another social interweaving we have always been and shall ever more be family. And families must agree to disagree on topics. Families must help each other out. Families must care for the weaker ones and groom the stronger ones. But family must and will stick together. Most importantly, we must change the way the local media and other social sites wish to portray reality and divide the persons one from another. Are there challenges? Yes! Have we as a family seen off many a challenge before? Yes! In various local social media there is now a digital divide. Either you are trumpeted as a Bermudian looking for change or you are a Kool Aid drinker, a sheep, a drug user and every name under the sun. I presume these are new politically acceptable catchphrases for the old “N” word. So to encapsulate, yes change must come, yet I am sure there is only one definition of change that others are seeking. Our country has never been perfect, well at least not for the majority of us. Shout it loud, we are PLP and we are proud!CHRISTOPHER FAMOUSDevonshire
