Sandys Parish resident Randolph Anthony Simons, 27, was charged two weeks ago with robbing Lisa Roberts of the bag, belonging to her employer SKB Coatings, while armed with an imitation gun.

Simons' bail application was yesterday refused. Defence counsel was Mr. Delroy Duncan.

Simons has not entered pleas to any of the charges, which must be heard in Supreme Court. Roberts is the daughter of deputy PLP leader Mr. Walter Roberts.

CLEANING WOMAN ON THEFT CHARGE CTS Cleaning woman on theft charge A cleaning lady was charged in Magistrates' Court yesterday with stealing a money bag containing $21,700 which had been lying unsecured under a desk in the Bank of Butterfield.

Donna Marie Hollis, 34, did not plead to the charge.

Her lawyer Mr. Richard Hector had asked for a two-week adjournment before Hollis entered her plea.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis bailed her in the sum of $500 and ordered her to reappear November 9.

CANADIAN NURSES SET TO RETURN HTH Canadian nurses set to return Canadian nurses who served at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital during the 1950s will be holding a reunion in Bermuda next week.

A luncheon has been planned for 34 of the ladies at the Port O'Call restaurant at noon on Tuesday.

During the week, participants will be spending time reacquainting themselves with their old work mates, and touring the Island.

The Royal Palms will host the group's closing dinner on Saturday night.

HEAT GUNS SETS OFF ALARMS FIR Heat guns sets off alarms Firemen rushed to St. Brendan's Hospital after fire alarms were activated by a workman's heat gun. The gun was being used close to a smoke detector in the conference room. Three appliances and 11 personnel attended the incident.

Nine fire fighters were called to a brush fire in Devon Spring Road, Devonshire, after controlled burning had got out of hand. The fire burned a 10-foot square area of brush.

`DRUNKEN' WOMAN SLEPT ON SIDEWALK CTS `Drunken' woman slept on sidewalk Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis ordered a second social inquiry report yesterday for Rita Butler, 40, who was found in a "drunken stupor'' in the back of town.

Prosecutor Sgt. Peter Giles said on the afternoon of October 17 Police were called to North Street, where they found Butler asleep on the sidewalk and smelling strongly of liquor.

When they tried to wake her up, she started "cursing and carrying on'', he said. She was taken into custody.

The court heard she had similar past convictions and admitted having an alcohol problem. Mr. Francis ordered the report and told her to appear for sentencing in two weeks.

BLUE WATERS BENEFIT FNR Blue waters benefit The Blue Waters Anglers will hold a benefit luncheon on Sunday for one its members who had to give up work following a serious operation.

Mr. Irving Fisher had toes removed after suffering for many months with diabetes.

He has since been forced to give up his job as a van driver but he remains a member of Blue Water Anglers.

The benefit, between 1-4 p.m., will feature the Leopartonians, Cookie Rogers and music by Commerbach. Tickets are available from club members or can be bought on the door.
