Randy Horton may have become the first Bermudian to be nominated to the US Soccer Hall of Fame, as reported in yesterday's Royal Gazette. But he isn't the first Islander to be recognised by the United States for his performance on the field.
That honour belongs to former Warwick Academy principal Zacky Marshall who, back in 1952, was made an All-American.
A graduate of Springfield College, Massachusetts, Marshall played as left half-back for the Ludlow Lucitanos who claimed six national soccer championships. He later went on to coach a championship-winning team in St. John's Newfoundland, before returning to Bermuda.
