On December 8, 2007, Thaddeus Murdoch received his Doctorate in Marine Sciences from the University of South Alabama and the Dauphin Island Sea Lad.

His dissertation was written on 'A Functional Group Approach for Predicting the Composition of Hard Coral Assemblages in Florida and Bermuda".

Dr. Murdoch is presently employed with the Bermuda Zoological Society and is heading the Bermuda Reef Ecosystems Assessment and Mapping (BREAM) Programme. He is a graduate of Warwick Academy and Dalhousie University in Halifax.

Thad is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ian Murdoch of Paget and Janet Ellis of the United States.
