The programme will begin with Gian-Carlo Menotti's one-act opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors, a modern classic which tells the story of the crippled boy Amahl and his devoted mother who live in poverty among the shepherds of Jerusalem. One starlight night some strangers appear at the door: three kings who are on their way to Bethlehem. By the time they depart, much has happened, including a miracle when Amahl begins to walk.
Singing the lead roles will be Thomas Foster, Raymon Bonne-Smith, Jane Farge, John Ross, Peter Nash, Sherwin Jones and Justin Brangman.
Following the interval, the programme will be filled with popular Christmas music, including carols -- some with audience participation -- and excerpts from The Messiah.
The concert will begin at 8 p.m. and tickets ($25) are available at Daylesford Theatre from 12 noon to 2 p.m. until Friday, following which they will be sold at the door from 7 p.m.
