If you are going to party, make sure you sweat first
Sweat in the AM; party in the PM: this is my Christmas season mantra.
If you love the Christmas season and are as committed to your fitness as I am, then you understand.
It's so important to know yourself and remain honest with your efforts. I refuse to skimp on the eggnog, swizzle, cinnabons and mac n cheese and I refuse to feel bad about indulging either. I also refuse to miss a daily workout.
For me it is not a punishment but a celebration – of being able to move, of loving my body and enjoying the transformation.
I really do love working out and eating healthy. I love how my body feels, I love how positive I feel and think, how clear my mind is after a workout. So committing to a workout (or two) every day, doesn't come hard for me.
Indulging and enjoying this season will not undo any hard work. Sure, it will delay any improvements but understand that this journey is not linear. I know this and am very happy with the ups and downs. It is all a part of learning more about my body.
I say all of this to remind you that there is no harm in enjoying this festive season whilst still committing to your daily fitness. If you've been honest with your efforts all year, found your version of balance and fully understand that you aren't undoing your hard work, then go ahead and enjoy yourself.
Remain active, continue to eat healthy, enjoy a dessert or glass of wine and the next day do it again, maybe differently. Time on earth is best LIVED. Be the best version of yourself and, if that involves enjoying Christmas season food and festivities, then go ahead. No guilt.
Commit yourself to making fitness and wellness a lifestyle, a journey. Once you do that, you'll have no issue enjoying life with no guilt because you know that you live a good 80/20 healthy lifestyle. The end!
Have a great week Fitfam! Remember too remain honest with your efforts and true to your fitness and wellness journey, unapologetic about how you choose to live it. The next time I write will be after the holiday, so merry Christmas guys! Enjoy, be safe and I'm looking forward to sharing my 2021 greetings with you.
