Must-win match for Hogges
Bermuda Hogges midfielder Keishen Bean has urged his team-mates to get their season back on track in tonight’s “must-win” game against Brooklyn Knights.Hogges, who drew their opening two home matches, made a dismal start to their five-game road trip with a crushing 5-1 defeat at Westchester Flames at the weekend. But Bean, who scored Hogges’ goal in that defeat, believes that scoreline was not a fair reflection of the game and is adamant the Islanders can challenge for the PDL play-offs.“I don’t think the scoreline reflected the game but the boys are in high spirits,” said Bean, who missed the opening two home games due to school commitments.“It’s very important to get back out there tomorrow night to prove that we are really play-off contenders.“Tomorrow’s game is crucial for many reasons. If we are to contend for a play-off spot we need the points. Obviously our season won’t be completely over but without a win we are in a desperate position.”Hogges are propping up the Mid-Atlantic Division with just two points from three matches but a win tonight could lift them to sixth in the standings, leapfrogging the Flames and the Long Island Rough Riders, who both are on four points.Maurice Lowe’s side take on the Rough Riders on Thursday before a double-header against New Jersey Express to complete their gruelling 12-day trip of the East Coast.“We must remember that this league is so close, so a win tonight and we could be in sixth place,” said Bean.“I have full confidence that Maurice (Lowe) will tweak the team a bit and we will return to top form for the game.”Hogges: Tahj Bell, Troy Hall, Seion Darrell, Darius Cox, Roger Lee, Jaylon Bather, Shakir Smith, Jamel Swan, Troy Tucker, Drewonde Bascome, Marcelos Thomas, Domico Coddington, Angelo Simmons, Damon Ming, Jahron Dickenson, Lashun Dill, Rakeem Deshields, Keishen Bean, Zeiko Lewis, John Barry Nusum, Mikkail Crockwell
