CARRY ON SERGEANT!
The Bermuda Police Service recently announced the promotion of seven officers to Sergeant.: Sergeant Simons has been a serving officer in the Bermuda Police Service for nine years. He has served in the Eastern Uniform Division, Traffic Enforcement, PSU and Operational Policing. Sgt. Simons has taken many courses while working with the Service and in April 2006 he will be attending an Advanced Traffic Investigation Course in Florida.Sergeant Howie has been an officer for five years. He has worked in the Central Investigation Unit, Central Uniform and Western Uniform. He is married and a father of two.Sergeant Gibbons started his career in 1994 and worked out of Eastern Uniform Division for a year. He then transferred to Central Uniform and worked out of Hamilton Police Station for four years. He also worked in the Traffic Enforcement Unit, Police Support Unit and in 2002 he was transferred to the Training Department as an instructor/trainer responsible for the physical training of new Police Recruits & Cadets. This included first aid, drill/inspection and officer safety. Sergeant King joined the Scottish Police Service in 1989 where he worked in uniform and CID. Following 11 years of service in Scotland, he applied to join the Bermuda Police Service and arrived on the island in September 2000. He has worked in Central Uniform, Central CID and the Commercial Crime Department. Sergeant King is a fully qualified dive instructor and enjoys travelling extensively.Sergeant Gunn was raised in Ohio and started his career in the United States Navy in 1986. He joined the Ordinance Division and learned to disable live ammunition and explosive devices with the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team with NAS Bermuda. Sergeant Gunn became a Police officer in Bermuda in 1998 and has worked in Uniform Patrols for several years. He then joined the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team. Sergeant Gunn is a diver and holds an Underwater Crime Scene Investigator qualification. He has also worked in CID and is currently attached to the Community Safety Department. Sergeant Martin has been a Police officer for 13 years ? eight of those years with the South Yorkshire Police in the UK. Whilst in Bermuda Sergeant Martin has worked with the Gangs & Firearms Team and Central CID, with attachments to the Serious Crime Unit. He has been on many courses and holds 2 Commissioner?s Commendations, 3 Letters of Good Work and a Superintendent?s Commendation. Sergeant Nurse has been with the Bermuda Police Service for eight years. She has worked in Eastern Uniform, the Eastern Criminal Investigation Unit, the Serious Crime Unit, the Airport Police Station, Administration, as Eastern Station Manager and in the Training Centre. Sergeant Nurse holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Norfolk State University.
