Trials for this year?s Bermuda International Race Weekend KPMG Invitational Mile will be held on Saturday and Sunday, December 9 and 10 at the National Sports Centre.
Racing will begin at 1 p.m. on both days.
Runners wishing to qualify for Front Street Mile, to be held on January 12 next year, can sign up today by picking up a registration form from the Sportseller, International Sports shop or KPMG?s offices on Par-la-Ville Road.
A copy of the entry form can be downloaded from the Bermuda Track and Field Association?s web site www.bermudatracknfield.com.
Unlike other races in the 2007 Bermuda International Race Weekend, there is no direct, online registration for the trials, although the BTFA hope to be able to offer this facility in the coming years.
KPMG are also delivering entry forms to every primary through senior school in Bermuda in an effort to encourage even more young athletes to sign up for the trials.
KPMG managing partner Steve Green said: ?We?re very excited by the prospect of having a record number of students try out for the trials in December. To this end, in addition to hand delivering entry forms to each and every applicable PE teacher on the Island we have agreed with the BTFA to introduce more age groups this year and reinstate the Inter-School Mile trophy, all of which we hope will be a further incentive to all the schools to send their young runners out on the 9th or 10th December.?
The trials are open to all runners aged from eight years and up.
This year there will be four junior age categories for runners eight to 10, 11 to 12, 13 to 16 and 17 to 18.
As always, the fastest 20 qualifiers, under eight minutes, will be invited to participate in the Front Street event in January. Entry fee for the trials is $5 for students (18 and under) and $10 for adults.
