Kyle on road to Wembley

playing at Wembley after helping his English club Stoke City to a cup victory at Chesterfield last night.

And he revealed that if he makes it to the Twin Towers for the final of the Auto Windscreens Shield, his Bermuda team-mate and fellow professional Shaun Goater will be top of his list for complimentary tickets.

Lightbourne has twice seen Goater play at Wembley -- both live and on TV -- and after Second Division Stoke's 1-0 away victory in the northern section semi-final, the 31-year-old now has the famous old stadium in his sights.

"We're very close after growing up together in Bermudian football and I suppose I was envious and proud to see him playing at Wembley,'' said Lightbourne of Goater.

"I stood with the Rotherham fans one year when Shaun was in their side that won a play-off final and last May I was delighted for him when I saw him win that great game for Manchester City against Gillingham.

"We're desperate to get to Wembley at least once this season, it's something I've thought about ever since seeing it on TV as a kid in Bermuda and coming to regard it as the home of football.'' Chesterfield's Saltergate ground has been a happy hunting ground for Lightbourne this season. Back in early September, he scored both goals in a 2-0 league win which truly signalled the start of his renaissance and left him insisting at the time: "This is the best day of my footballing life after what I've been through.'' Yesterday he said: "I stand by that statement because it was a big turning point for me, the biggest game of my career. I felt I had recaptured the spirit and determination I had when things were going well at Walsall.

"I feel I have reproduced that in most matches since. My only disappointment this season is not scoring the number of goals I've wanted (eight so far).

"With a bit more luck, I could have another eight this season. When I was doing well at Walsall those chances were going in instead of going wide or being blocked on the line.'' Stoke's winner last night was scored by midfielder James O'Connor, eight minutes from the end.

To reach Wembley, the Potters will now have to win the northern section final against one of three Third Division clubs -- Carlisle or Hartlepool, whose quarter-final was postponed last night, or Rochdale.

The Shield is a knockout trophy for clubs from the English Second and Third Divisions.
