Housing chief slams bad tenants
consider renting, a housing association chairman said.
Terry Flood, chairman of the Frog Lane Prefab Condominium Board, said the housing crisis could be eased somewhat if people took more care of the homes they are renting.
He said many landlords were reluctant to lease their homes, because of bad experiences with previous tenants who had wrecked units.
"I am calling on them to respect properties, whether it be private or Government. You find that people have no respect for properties,'' he said.
"Some destroy homes, making them impossible to rent out.'' Mr. Flood, whose own association covers some 30 homes bought from the Government since 1982, said he welcomed Health and Family Services Minister Wayne Furbert's moves on the housing issue.
"Housing is an issue for everybody.''
