Refs' crisis prompts FA Cup switch
eight FA Cup first round matches has been brought forward to Friday night.
Devonshire Cougars will host Prospect at Devonshire Rec. at 8.00 p.m., leaving the remaining seven matches to be played on Sunday.
Perhaps most attention will focus on the tie in Somerset where hosts Trojans take on Boulevard in a rematch of last month's league fixture which saw dozens of fans involved in an end-of-game brawl, resulting in the stabbing of a police officer.
Boulevard, the defending cup champions, won that game 2-1.
An all-First Division double-header at PHC Stadium will see Vasco take on Hotels at 12.30 and PHC playing Devonshire Colts at 2.30. North Village meet St. George's at 12.30 at Bernard Park, while the remaining three ties all kick off at 2.30.
Dandy Town take on St. David's at St. John's Field, Hamilton Parish meet Wolves at Wellington Oval in a clash between the top Second Division teams while at Southampton Oval, Rangers meet Paget.
The First Division clash between Devonshire Cougars and Vasco, which was postponed last Friday, has not yet been rescheduled.
This week was ruled out because Vasco are playing tomorrow night in the Friendship Competition. It would appear the match may not be played until the New Year as the Dudley Eve -- in which Vasco are also involved -- is scheduled to begin next Wednesday night.
