water plants at his home in Bermuda's Aquarium, Museum and Zoo to catch a little sun just as The Royal Gazette photographer Tony Cordeiro passed by.

Oscar, who is seldom seen, as he is normally submerged beneath the plants, is 17-years-old, nine-and-a-half feet long and weighs some 240 pounds thanks to his diet of poultry and fish. Oscar arrived at the Zoo in Flatts Village about 12 years ago with two other alligators but had to be separated from them because he kept fighting with the other male in the trio over the solitary female.
