Fans at St.John?s Field could have been excused for thinking they had entered a time warp after Darren (Duke) Simons delighted them with a touch of class, the likes of which once made him one the most feared strikers in the land.

Elevated from Town?s Commercial ranks for the day?s cup tie, Simons repaid coach Devarr Boyles for the favour by curling in 25-yard free kick from an acute angle just outside the 18-yard box as the defending champions waltzed into the second round with a comprehensive 3-0 win.

Others coming up trumps for Hornets were Lloyd Holder, who celebrated his first goal for his new club following an off-season transfer from Devonshire Colts, and Lashun Dill who scored with a long-range header.

Hamilton Parish 3 X Roads 3

Hamilton Parish and First Division newcomers X Roads will have to battle it out in a replay after yesterday?s FA Cup first round encounter at Lord?s ended in an exciting 3-3 draw.

Patrick Stamp, Hicham Boulcloufi and Alfie Wolfe were all on target for First Division cellar dwellers X Roads, who at one stage led 3-1 but were reduced to ten men when Dennis Musson was sent off in the 72nd minute.

Parish replied through a Leroy Robinson brace and an 85th minute equaliser from Leon Raynor.

Vasco Mariners 1 Robin Hood 2

Robin Hood came from a goal down to edge Vasco Mariners 2-1 at St.John?s Field.

Michael Bean put Mariners ahead in the early stages of the opening half only for Hood to come roaring back with an equaliser through Paul McCluskey two minutes prior to the half.

Alex McLaughlin notched the eventual winner midway through the second half.
