Duperreault back on board with Tyco
Marsh & McLennan's newly-installed president and CEO Brian Duperreault was among 11 nominees elected onto the board of directors at Tyco International's annual general meeting yesterday.
Mr. Duperreault, who was chairman and CEO of Ace Ltd. from 1994 to 2004, was re-elected for the for the fourth time, having been initially appointed to the board in March 2004.
The event, which was held at the Fairmont Southampton hotel, also saw John Krol, outgoing lead director and former chairman and CEO of EI du Pont de Nemours & Co., Admiral Dennis Blair, retired commander-in-chief at US Pacific Command, Tim Donahue, former executive chairman of Sprint Nextel, Bruce Gordon, ex-president and CEO of NAACP, Raj Gupta, president and CEO of Rohm and Haas Co., Brendan O'Neill, former CEO of Imperial Chemical Industries, Bill Stavropoulos, former chairman, president and CEO of Dow Chemical Co., Sandra Wijnberg, chief administrative officer of Aquiline Holdings and Jerry York, former of Micro Warehouse Inc. elected as directors by more than 90 percent of the shareholders.
Deloitte & Touche were also re-appointed as the firm's independent auditors and amendments to the company's by-laws were also approved by more than 98 percent of those voting on the proposals.
lBermuda-based Tyco Electronics' board authorised an increase in the company's share repurchase programme to $1.25 billion from $750 million.
