Southampton Princess Hotel workers.

It is understood the Bermuda Industrial Union was holding talks yesterday to brief officers on the situation.

Some hotel workers had put together a petition, calling on the union to intervene in unspecified troubles, and threatening to withdraw their support if nothing was done.

Yesterday, BIU president Derrick Burgess, who just arrived back on the Island, said: "I have no comment to make.'' The petition stated: "We the employees in the hospitality industry request you give very urgent attention and representation in solving the many problems on our job site, the Fairmont Southampton Princess Hotel....

"Failing this we will have no other recourse but to donate our weekly dues of $10 to the charity of our choice.''
